Sam Altman has sat down with Lex Fridman to discuss OpenAI, AGI, and, of course, the ongoing legal saga with Elon Musk.

OpenAI CEO and founder Sam Altman discussed the ongoing lawsuit with Elon Musk on Lex Fridman’s latest podcast. In part of an almost 2-hour sitdown interview, Altman explained his sadness and confusion around the lawsuit but is confident OpenAI and Musk will overcome this apparent disagreement.

Sam Altman responded, “I don’t really know what it’s really about.” He then explained that OpenAI started as a research lab and that the founding team, including Musk, didn’t know where the project was going. He compared this to the early days of OpenAI and how he thought Elon would have more sympathy for Sam Altman and his team now. Sam also explained to Lex the circumstances of Elon Musk’s departure from the fledging OpenAI.
