The billionaire author attacked the controversial Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act, which comes into effect on April 1.

JK Rowling has slammed the SNP's "ludicrous" hate crime law and vowed not to delete her old social media messages.

Police Scotland has pledged to investigate every hate crime complaint reported - despite the force adopting a "proportionate response" approach to other crimes. Police in Northumbria cleared Rowling of criminality after she stated “India is cosplaying a misogynistic male fantasy of what a woman is”. Rowling has been highly critical of the new hate crime legislation, arguing the “police are going to be very busy” when it becomes law.

She added: “I’m legally a woman. She knows I’m a woman and she calls me a man. It’s a protected characteristic.”
