Mr Avenatti’s arrest came one day after it was announced Mr Trump had been cleared of any criminal offences in relation to Robert Mueller’s probe into Russian interference in the 2016 US election. The court papers said the co-conspirator, who was not identified in court papers, was also a lawyer licensed to practice in California. It said the co-conspirator, like Mr Avenatti, represented celebrities and public figures.
