Grants of $200,000 will be awarded to each of the seven regional drug task forces under the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

The grant funds will be used to cover overtime, operational, and equipment expenses.

The task forces seized more than $946,000 combined in 2022 and the hope is that these grants will bring the task forces closer to taking drugs off the streets. The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grants using funds from the U.S. Department of Justice.Teen arrested in connection with shooting near University Boulevard in Mobile
