Man sent to prison for assaulting 4-year-old with hot iron

The Magistrate, Mrs. Aishat Oloyade, gave the remand order after she told the defence counsel to put in a formal bail application for his client, NAN reports.The Prosecutor, ASP Fagboyinbo Abiodun, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometimes in March at about 4:30 pm at Awosuru area of Osogbo.

Abiodun said the defendant used a hot pressing iron to assault the minor for eating the rice kept in a plate.The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge. The defence counsel, Mr Ago Emmanuel, had prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms, a plea which was turned down.
