Matt Hoover has been found guilty of aggravated murder in the death of Provo police Officer Joseph Shiners.Matt Frank Hoover, 45, was charged in 2019 with aggravated murder after he allegedly shot Shinners in the chest after reportedly attempting to run the officer down with his vehicle.

Hoover was wanted for probation violations. He had an extensive criminal history with previous drug charges and was allegedly homeless while staying in various Utah cities.
