SINGAPORE: A 35-year-old man will be charged in court on Saturday over his alleged involvement in a hit-and-run accident that killed a pedestrian.In a news release on Friday, the police said they were alerted to the accident involving a lorry and a pedestrian at the junction of Jurong West Avenue 2 and Bulim Avenue at about 9.25am on Aug 25, 2023.
The pedestrian, a 57-year-old man, was taken to hospital conscious after the accident, however, he subsequently died. "With strong cooperation and assistance rendered by the Royal Malaysia Police , the driver was arrested in Malaysia on Mar 14, 2024, pursuant to a warrant of arrest issued by the State Courts in Singapore," SPF said.If convicted of dangerous driving causing death, the man could be jailed for between two and eight years, and disqualified from driving all classes of vehicles.
"The arrest is a testament to the excellent relationship forged between the SPF and the RMP," he said in a statement.
