As streaming service Showmax broadcasts its highly anticipated "Tracking Thabo Bester" documentary, the Facebook rapist's legal team says it hopes the programme wont affect his trial. Bester alongside celebrity doctor Nandipha Magudumana lost their bid to put the four-part docuseries on ice. The programme, which is now broadcasting exclusively on the platform, details events surrounding Bester's brazen prison escape from the Mangaung Correctional Facility.
Bester believes its unfair that Multichoice is set to benefit commercially from broadcasting Showmax's documentary about his infamous prison break. His legal team has argued in court that Bester wasn't consulted and asked for consent before and during production of the four-part docuseries. His lawyer, Neo Motsatsi said while they respect the court's ruling, they still believe "Tracking Thabo Bester" will infringe the Facebook rapist's right to a fair trial. "We are obviously disappointed, but we are very happy that the court has not granted any cost order against my client, Mr Bester.
