Mr Lawal Pedro , counsel to James Aguedo, one of the students charged with gang-raping a student of the University of Lagos on Monday appealed to an Ikeja Domestic Violence and Special Offences Court to grant the student bail to enable him to sit for an examination.

Pedro prayed the court to allow Aguedo to write the examination scheduled for April by granting him bail. “The defendant is suffering a recurring back ailment. We brought not just a medical report, but the history, because he has been attending an orthopaedic hospital,” the SAN said. Following the submissions, Justice Abiola Soladoye adjourned the case until April 18 for ruling on the bail application.
