Members of both chambers of US Congress have given a 'quite optimistic' outlook on the passage of a bill containing aid for Kyiv, Ukraine's justice minister has said. A $95bn (£74.3bn) security package predominantly including support for Ukraine has been stalled for months over pushback by conservatives. The US last night announced a separate new military aid package for Ukraine worth $300m, but Joe Biden warned it was not enough.

Members of both chambers of US Congress have given a 'quite optimistic' outlook on the passage of a bill containing aid for Kyiv, Ukraine's justice minister has said. Denys Maliuska said during a visit to the Ukrainian embassy in Washington that Republicans and Democrats 'all agree that support shall be provided' and both camps should put aside 'divisions... aimed at internal needs'.

He said he met with a large number of Congress members and told them a failure to pass the bill would mean 'disaster on the battlefield'. A $95bn (£74.3bn) security package predominantly including support for Ukraine has been stalled for months over pushback by conservatives. The Senate has already passed the bill, but House speaker Mike Johnson has so far refused to call a vote. The US last night announced a separate new military aid package for Ukraine worth $300m, but Joe Biden warned it was not enough
