Naledi Chirwa, a vibrant South African politician and activist, emerged as a leading advocate for fairness and equality. She grew up in Polokwane in a politically engaged family, immersing herself in activism from an early age. As a student leader at the University of the Witwatersrand, she played a pivotal role in the #FeesMustFall campaign for free education, garnering attention for her activism.

Additionally, Chirwa pursued her schooling in Vosloorus and graduated from Mamelodi Secondary School in 2011. She furthered her education at the University of Pretoria, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Drama. According to, she is enrolled in a Master’s degree program in Drama and Film Studies at the University of the Witwatersrand.Naledi Chirwa’s journey into politics began in 2010 when she was elected as the deputy student president of Tshwane North College at just 17 years old.

Further, throughout her political career, Chirwa has received several accolades, including the Diligence and Academic Excellence Award from the Tshwane District Municipality, recognition as the Youngest Parliamentary Candidate in South Africa, and the Community Involvement, Academic Excellence, and Performance Award from the University of Pretoria. The Mail and Guardian named her among the Top 200 Young South Africans.
