Meghan Markle has had her half-sister Samantha Markle's defamation case thrown out of court. Samantha had taken Meghan to court over comments she made during an interview with Oprah Winfrey and on her Netflix show with Prince Harry.
The judge wrote that Meghan's motion to dismiss the case is granted and Samantha's defamation claims are dismissed with prejudice. This means that the case is closed in favour of Meghan. The 59-year-old, who shares a dad with Meghan, said the Duchess had planned a campaign to ruin her and their father's reputation. She did this to keep up the 'rags-to-royalty' story she had told about her life to the Royal Family and the world's media.
Judge Honeywell wrote:" Defendant's Motion to Dismiss for Failure to State a Claim is GRANTED. Plaintiff's Defamation Claims are DISMISSED WITH PREJUDICE. Plaintiff's Defamation-By-Implication Claims are also DISMISSED WITH PREJUDICE.
