A Manhattan criminal justice activist was arrested for allegedlySheldon Johnson, 48, was charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon in connection to the death of 44-year-old Collin Small.
According to police, at 8:25 p.m. on March 5, officers responded to a wellness check at Small’s apartment at 979 Summit Ave. Upon their arrival, police found a human torso, later identified as Small. According to published reports, Small’s head and legs had been detached and were later found in a freezer.station house. As he was being taken away, he yelled out “I’m innocent, I’m innocent!”
Johnson had previously served about 25 years for attempted murder and has since become a criminal justice advocate, serving as a staffer for for the public law firm Queens Defenders.
