The man accused of killing the mother of his two children and then abducting their two young girlsDustin Duren, 37, was arraigned on a second-degree murder charge in Berlin District Court, according to the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office. The prosecution requested he be held without bail due to the seriousness of the charges against him, saying the decision should be made in a superior court. The defense did not argue.

An autopsy Friday found Naffziger had died from a single gunshot wound to the head, said Attorney General John Formella. "The man complied with all the officers' requests," she said."Further officers pulled up and they were able to get the man out of the car and get him down to the ground safely." Witness Rick Fuller said he saw about five local police cars and a state trooper converge on a white car in the Applebee's lot between 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

Authorities had issued the Amber Alert just after 4 a.m. Friday for the abduction of 4-year-old Elowyn Duren and 1-year-old Vaelyn Duren.
