Warsaw, N.Y. — The family of Cheryl Cook are looking for answers as authorities search for the suspect accused of strangling her to death and fleeing the country.Krysany Castner said when her siblings couldn't reach their mother on Nov. 7, they contacted the police. When Warsaw police officers responded to the home for a welfare check, they found Cheryl Cook, 53, dead inside the home. A preliminary autopsy indicated she had died by strangulation.

"When your mom's phone is dead for three days, you just know something is wrong," said Castner. "She didn't deserve it. She was a good-hearted person." Since the investigation started, multiple law enforcement agencies have been looking for Michael Bellaire, 41, who authorities believe was living with Cook. The Wyoming County District Attorney's Office said Bellaire allegedly stole Cook's credit cards, and fled the country in her car.

While navigating the devastating loss of their mother, Krysany said she and her siblings simply want justice and answers. "She was a good woman and a free spirit. She would have given anything to anyone and she was loved very deeply," said Castner.
