Journalist Lisa Wilkinson is seeking legal costs from Channel Ten after she says her reputation was “trashed in the media”.

Her Order of Australia pin fastened snug to the left lapel of her black blazer, the journalist gave evidence to the federal court that she had been “begging” her employer, Channel Ten, to clarify publicly that her infamous 2022 Logies speech had been fully legalled by the network’s counsel.

In the end, like so much in the Higgins-Lehrmann matter, it all got derailed – the eventual criminal trial was aborted, following juror misconduct. A retrial was then abandoned due to the fragile mental health of the complainant. She also stated that Ten CEO Beverley McGarvey told her agent, Nick Fordham, that Wilkinson had suffered “brand damage”.program commentating that Wilkinson’s Logies speech was “ill advised”.

After the lunch adjournment, Ten’s legal counsel, Tasha Smithies, admitted to reading a draft of Wilkinson’s Logies speech before it was delivered.“Yes,” Smithies said.
