, the groups said the prolonged litigation process and detention of Cumpio, Domequil and Abinguna “highlight the need for immediate and decisive action” from the justice department. The letter was signed by Raymund Villanueva, chairperson of Altermidya Network, National Union of Journalists of the Philippines chairperson Jonathan de Santos, and College Editors Guild of the Philippines deputy secretary general John Ray Luciano. The groups made the appeal following the recent visit in the country of UN Special Rapporteur on the promotion of the freedom of expression and opinion Irene Khan’s who expressed concern over their unjust and prolonged detentio
