Proposed legal amendments were tabled in Parliament to give police officers enhanced powers of search and arrest. The Criminal Procedure (Miscellaneous Amendment) Bill also proposes a framework for conducting forensic medical examinations.

Police officers may be allowed to search anyone suspected of an arrestable offence without a warrant, or compel a person to undergo forensic tests, among other enhanced powers under a new Bill tabled in Parliament.
