While making their final case, prosecutors encouraged jurors to rely on common sense while the defense reiterated that Taylor was just following his training. Chris Harris with the Austin Justice Collation was in the courtroom during Tuesday’s closing arguments. “Ensuring that you do not take someone's life until absolutely necessary is consistent with human empathy,” said prosecutor Dexter Gilford.“If you think hey if I was standing where Chris was standing, and the Prius is driving forward I would have shot too. If you think that, you cannot convict Chris,” said O’Connell.
