The City of Joburg files leave to appeal High Court judgment.

Johannesburg Executive Mayor Kabelo Gwamanda and the mayoral committee are appealing the judgment of the Johannesburg High Court on the appointment of the City Manager.

This comes after the High Court declared the appointment of Floyd Brink as an Acting City Manager unconstitutional and invalid. The City’s spokesperson Mlimandlela Ndamase says, “The Executive Mayor of Johannesburg, Councillor Kabelo Gwamanda has noted the judgment of the High Court in Johannesburg in relation to the appointment of the City Manager. The Mayor wishes to reiterate his commitment to acting in the best interests of the residents of the City and its administration at all times.
