Michelle Bachelet, addressing the Human Rights Council, cited allegations that the National Police’s Special Actions Force had executed 37 people in January in Caracas in illegal house raids in poor areas supporting the opposition. U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that his administration had held in reserve what he called “the toughest of sanctions” to try to cut off revenues to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

Maduro, a socialist who says he is the victim of an attempted U.S.-led coup, retains the support of the armed forces and control of state functions.

Why don't you do something about it (other than talking about it)?

What do you say now? This is ridiculous. How can you not put your foot down against Maduro and his tyrannical regime? You are losing global support with your position, after all, more than 50 countries have voiced support for Guaido.

America will; invade nations, murder civilians, assassinate leaders, support oppressive regimes & use the military as mercenaries! Colonialism is unsustainable! Venezuela Haiti Brazil DominicanRepublic Antigua Chile Panama ElSalvador Honduras ElSalvador Columbia Peru

I think the plan is to starve the population until they revolt and then rush in to protect the oil fields. Sanctions after all only hurt the people by destroying their countries not the leaders.

Then she needs to start demanding Maduro flee the country in exile. The sanctions will remain in place until he is gone.

I'd hardly think that U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet, former president of Chile would decry this crackdown if it was to save her native country under this tyrant and millions of her countrymen were starving and languishing in darkness - silly woman!

Do they proposed something, besides sending wishes and prayers?

They most certainly will worsen crises... Yet the US will not respond by accepting in almost any of the refugees it creates. That's the playbook.

Really? That is the main thing you took from her whole statement 🙃
