Mike Carpenter, the uncle of Greg Longenecker, walks in the field where Longenecker was killed by a bulldozer in Bernville, Pennsylvania, on Feb. 23, 2019.Get breaking news alerts and special reports. The news and stories that matter, delivered weekday mornings.Gregory Longenecker had a date with his long-term girlfriend he wouldn’t make.
The friend was quickly apprehended, and Longenecker fled, running through the dense brush, according to a Berks County District Attorney report. Taking cues from the helicopter, the bulldozer drove where Longenecker was last spotted, as the brush was so thick that police felt they couldn’t chase him on foot. The incident ended, about 2.5 hours later, when Longenecker was discovered trapped under the bulldozer, unresponsive. The district attorney's report says investigators believe Longenecker “attempted to allude apprehension and intentionally crawled under the bulldozer when it came to a brief 30 second stop.
“Those that are accountable need to be held accountable; those that are responsible need to be held responsible," he added.State police, the Pennsylvania Game Commission, and members of Longenecker’s family declined to comment to NBC News.that the police response to Longenecker was appropriate.
This does not add up at all! This particular dozer has a max speed of 5.6mph and couldn't possibly 'chase' a person that is fleeing the scene. For reference, a light 'jog' is about 6 mph (average) so it is illogical to think Greg purposely hid under/behind the dozer.
Will America EVER grow up?
Jesus Christ! 🤬 WTF is wrong in America.
Destroyed evidence
I keep saying And will continue to say Cops need to have every 3to6 month mandatory drug/Psy evaluations They have many issues They take the frustrations from those issues 2work, to the streets, and to the public Which bares the consequences of their pinned up frustrations
They tracked him down! He might have dozed off? I guess he was trying to cover his tracks. Gives new meaning to the idea of lying low till the heat blows over. Seems he was D-9’d his constitutional rights. He was listening to heavy metal. Poor dude was just trying to scrape by.
I don't buy the officials version of the incident for one second. Over zealous officers ended a man's life over 10 pot plants. Every single person who was in that field should be reassigned to jobs that don't require any critical thinking skills. Simply too extreme for the crime.
What a bizarre situation. Hopefully a forensic analysis of the scene can shed light on the events. This is a situation where AndrewYang police cam policy would have been very helpful in giving clarity to a confusing outcome. Evidence FactsOverFeelings
I’m assuming this guy killed was white. Because Al Sharpton wasn’t mentioned and there wasn’t a candle light vigil and protest
I just read this story and I'm not entirely sure if I am dreaming about this or not. The idea of a 'police chase' with Helicopter makes me think of a white bronco on the highway... then, I see BULLDOZER. First: How the hell does someone give killed by a bulldozer ?
'There's the pothead, quick, run him over with that bulldozer. That's the moral and logical solution' It's asinine to believe that anyone other than the perpetrator is primarily at fault here.
No, Greg engaged in a dangerous police chase, endangering lives of innocent bystanders, all over 10 pot plants. For all the cops know, Greg's got a dead body in his house. When you run, they're gonna chase you. And they're gonna put your life LAST in priority under everyone else
Get a grip.
