Jozef Puska, 33, from Mucklagh, Co Offaly, has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Ms Murphy on 12 January 2022.Mr Puska described cycling past Digby Bridge beside the Grand Canal in Tullamore before turning around and heading back towards the town.
Mr Puska said he was on his bike and the man started shouting at him. He said he did not understand what he was saying.He said the man pulled a knife and started threatening him that he would hurt him and kill him. He then stabbed him in the stomach twice, while shouting something. He said when he stood up he saw the man and woman in the bushes – he said he started shouting and he saw him attack the lady. After a few moments he said the man turned around and started running towards the motorway flyover.
