At least 32 people were killed Friday after a large fire broke out at a drug rehabilitation center in Iran,The fire broke out early Friday morning at a drug rehabilitation center in Langarud, a city around 125 miles northwest of capital Tehran in the Caspian Sea province of Gilan, according to local news reports.
Deputy governor of the Gilan province Mohammad Jalai said 16 others were injured in the fire, four of them in “critical condition,” AFP The center reportedly had capacity to accommodate up to 40 people and footage of the blaze shows firefighters, ambulances and other emergency personnel attending and the remains of a heavily damaged building.of Jalai in a news agency report, said an initial investigation found a heater in the opium rehab camp caused the fire, which then spread to other parts of the center. AFP, citing the Mizan news outlet linked to Iran’s judiciary, said arrests have already been made over the fire.
