Supreme Court rules against group of immigrants in case about government's power to detain them after they've committed crimes but finished their sentences.

The Supreme Court ruled Tuesday against a group of immigrants in a case about the government's power to detain them after they've committed crimes but finished their sentences.

But those affected by the law aren't always picked up immediately and are sometimes not detained until years later. In the case before the Supreme Court, a group of mostly green card holders argued that unless they're picked up essentially within a day of being released, they should be entitled to a hearing where they can argue that they aren't a danger to the community and are not likely to flee.

Duh. Common sense prevails again.

A logical ruling. Non citizens can be detained at any time. A fantastic ruling for America!

Best President EVER !

Actually, their called illegal aliens. An immigrant is here legally bit not a citizen. Or used in the past tense as to where someone came from.

About time.

Kennedy court owned by Deusch Bank

The usage of the word “noncitizens” in this case and context is a complete journalistic fraud. Now you know why the media keeps sinking lower, although you don’t care... yet! NoHateJustTruth

Good anyone who should be deported for committing crimes should be held until they have been deported.

Why are we even wasting time and money hearing lawsuits from illegals. Send em home

You left out the illegal part of immigrants. They are in our country unlawfully. Legal immigrants are not subject to this case.

This is insane and sets a dangerous precedent! If a drunk driver kills an innocent bystander, are we now going to punish the vehicle's maker instead of the driver? InsaneRuling Wait, so the advertisement is what drove him to do it? What ads? The only ads for firearms are in firearm magazines and gun stores.

Opinion | How the Supreme Court weakened Congress on emergency declarationsTo understand how a 1983 Supreme Court decision dramatically affected the way the government works, consider what Congress had intended when it passed the National Emergencies Act. seems like a problem that should have been fixed 30 years ago, not when someone they don't like is using power they have Resolutions are meaningless jibberish until they are signed by the President, which will not happen. The basis of your whole story is false. What hasn't the Supreme Court weakened in the last 30 years? They've destroyed any chance at removing money from politics. Gerrymandering. Guns. Voting rights.
