At issue are the Constitution’s once-obscure emoluments clauses, designed to prevent undue influence on government officials but never before applied in court to a sitting president. The subpoenas seek details on some of the most closely held secrets of Trump’s business and finances: Which foreign governments have paid the Trump Organization money? How much? And for what?
The Richmond-based court, which takes appeals from Maryland, temporarily put the subpoenas on hold while the case is pending. “The president seeks to justify that extraordinary remedy on the ground that he is completely immune from judicial process,” Racine and Frosh said in their court filing.Unlike past presidents, Trump has retained ownership of his private businesses, including the hotel on Pennsylvania Avenue, a few blocks from the White House, that has attracted government clients. The Kuwaiti Embassy has held its National Day celebration there three years in a row.
Suing, lies and threats might have worked before but the Constitution will prevail. realDonaldTrump

Watching judges protect their GOP buddies is disgusting
He thinks he is above the law
trump should be required to use his own attorneys, not our Country’s Justice Department (which represents the Public Interest), in representing him against his personal emoluments lawsuits.
He'll lose
Sigh...as long as it is at market rates it isn’t an issue. Real estate isn’t like stocks. You can easily sell stocks without the price dropping like a rock because you sold. Such real estate has a limited of buyers and it’s insane to force a sale at a large loss.
Good luck to the plaintiffs. We are rooting for them against corrupt Trump.
Elections matter folks, Trump not only is making money off the office but appointing the very judges who will rule on the laws that regulate his greed.
As he makes money in a building he leased from the government as we speak? Nah it’s going forward!
It's because he's President is why it WON'T be thrown out. He's no longer a private citizen.
Why a President should not oversee the DOJ. No one is above the law.
Genuine question -- how is it that the DOJ represents Don the Con in this, and not his personal lawyers?
That’s what he ask courts to do with all law suits against him.
Maybe Trump should reappropriate his executive down time to face his legal challenges.
This is a formality, and quite common ... nothing doing.
LeslieLeslie430 time to tear that bitch down
That not how this works!
Cry more Wapo.
Meanwhile, we're waiting for him to be thrown out.
Obstruction of justice, anyone?
While the White House works to redact most of the MuellerReport , our courts continue to function, thank goodness. Checks and balances are critical - don't let this POTUS tear down justice!
On what grounds No one is above the law!
Thrown out Not going to happen.
No, we cannot allow this emoluments case to be 'thrown out.' No one is above the law, not even the president.
