Match commander was ‘worn down’ when he made comments at 2014-16 inquests, defence barrister says

The admissions of failure made in 2015 by the man who was match commander during the Hillsborough disaster, which claimed 96 lives, should be dismissed, his barrister has told his trial for manslaughter.

Duckenfield 'will not be giving evidence'The Hillsborough match commander will not be giving evidence in his defence, the court hears. Well for anyone who has been in court and not testified as is your right. It will always be pointed out as a sign of guilt by prosecutors and in judges summing up. So the defence will present evidence from dead people who cannot be cross examined, but not from the living defendant, who could be questioned on his.
