The families of Allan Marshall and Sheku Bayoh demand justice and criminal prosecutions for deaths in custody. They participated in vigils in Edinburgh and London organized by the United Families & Friends Campaign. A joint letter was delivered to First Minister Humza Yousaf, urging him to meet with the families and address their concerns.

The families of Allan Marshall and Sheku Bayoh have called for police and prison officers to be prosecuted if they are suspected of causing a death in custody.

A letter on behalf of both the Marshall and Bayoh families was read out yesterday before being handed in to Bute House for First Minister Humza Yousaf. It called on Mr Yousaf to meet with both families to discuss their concerns and hear their demands. The case provoked widespread fury after the Sunday Mail revealed CCTV footage showing the father-of-two being dragged naked down a segregation unit corridor with a towel over his face, having suffered multiple injuries. The Scottish Prison Service failed in a bid to stop the Sunday Mail publishing the footage.

He was due to be released when the restraint incident took place. In March this year the Lord Advocate Dorothy Bain K.C. ordered an investigation into the Scottish Prison Service by Police Scotland to see if there were grounds for a charge of corporate homicide.
