On Monday, Governor Josh Shapiro signed Bill 746 into law that would increase the annual dog license fee to $8.70 and the lifetime fee to $52.70, starting March 1.

The zoo shared that Murphy, a cinnamon black bear, has been moved behind the scenes to care for his spinal issue properly.

According to the zoo, Murphy began having difficulty utilizing his back left leg two weeks ago. ZooAmerica's primary vet team, the Animal Hospital of Dauphin County, examined and set him up with a medication regimen. The veterinary team soon discovered from a recent x-ray that Murphy has a spinal issue between two of his vertebrae. The location of the problem is consistent with his affected back left leg.
