The Healthy Meals Help Kids Learn Act aims to make it easier for schools to serve nutritious meals to students.

Pennsylvania U.S. Sen. John Fetterman is part of a group of lawmakers that wants to help end childhood hunger.He introduced the Healthy Meals Help Kids Learn Act, along with Sen. Martin Heinrich, D-NM, and Sen. Raphael Warnock, D-GA.The legislation aims to make it easier for schools to serve nutritious meals to students.

According to Fetterman, there are nearly half a million food-insecure children in Pennsylvania who collectively owe nearly $80 million in school meal debt.“No child should be worried about where their next meal comes from, and no child should EVER be in debt because they can’t afford school lunch,” Fetterman said in a news release. “This bill will provide schools the necessary resources to meet our children’s basic needs.
