Threaten legal action if this creep doesn’t apologise and provide evidence the photos have been deleted, says Mariella Frostrup

The dilemma Two years ago, a good friend of my husband’s invited us to his intimate wedding. At the reception I leaned over the bar to grab some glasses. A woman tapped me on the shoulder and said, apologetically: “You may want to watch your dress – my husband is taking photos of your underwear.” She pointed to the father of the bride, sniggering with another man, looking at photos he’d taken on his phone. I was mortified, panicked and confused.

Shocked at some of the comments here. This is not acceptable. Skating close to judging rape victims for what they were wearing when attacked. Thought we had moved on. Sadly,it seems, not.

You don't even know that the husband had taken a picture. His wife could have been winding her up, and her man is sat there sniggering at something else on his phone unaware of what his wife was saying. No picture no chance of a legal action.

Kind of hard to prove that it was a deliberate upskirting offence when you flash your knickers to an entire room.

How is one supposed to provide evidence that photos have been deleted? Does one need to show the content of absolutely all storage media in the universe, in case the photos have been transferred to a different location? Your proposition is absurd.

Two years ago? What's your objective in sharing this only now And obviously, you invited the reaction with your initial action.

Someone bent over the bar to reveal their😱skiddies, is that what happened? Correct it was wrong to take a demeaning photo But the complainant deliberately showed their pants & told to stop I am not blaming any victim but if I flash my arsecrack I expect to be called out on it🤮

What a strange way for his wife to react. Sounds very British and very Carry-On. Obviously not funny though if she's been thinking about the events for 2 years.

I’m so confused, someone bentover and revealed their😱skiddies, is that what happened? Correct it was a stinky perv who took the shot. But how did they know? Because phones aren’t that quick I am not blaming the victim but if I flash my arsecrack I expect to be called out on it🤮

You are just punishing yourself ever time you relive this. We need to teach girls to deal with things like this at the time or let them go. Pat yourself on the back for facing up to a misogynist at the time, rather than stewing over something that everyone else has forgotten.

SWINE!

I would be so angry that i probably wouldnt care about the wedding, friend (what kind of friend allows that to happen) and make a scene. I would be even angrier to that wife who supposed to stop her husband (wtf) rather than busy whispering around n warning the victim.

I am horrified at a society that promotes the idea that seeing underwear, or body parts, is amusing or shameful. Improve.

Damn dirty sniggerers
