Charles Smith Jr. was taken into custody Wednesday.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man has been charged with rape after a woman said he forced her to perform sexual acts on him to avoid being evicted from her apartment in Canal Winchester, according to Franklin County Municipal Court documents.

Records state that the incident occurred on Oct. 24 when a woman had a meeting with Charles Smith Jr., who was in charge of the property, and another man. The woman said that Smith released the other man from the meeting so it was just him and the woman inside the residence. Smith allegedly began telling the woman how attractive she was, making the woman uncomfortable. When she tried to leave, Smith stepped in front of the door preventing her from leaving and told her she had to perform oral sex on him if she wanted to continue living there.

The complaint states that Smith was getting angry and the woman feared for her safety, so she did as he asked. He proceeded to tell her"you took care of me so I'll take care of you" and then allowed the woman to leave.Man sentenced to 6 years in prison for raping woman at Columbus strip club in 2021
