The former Northampton South MP is accused of not disclosing information about donations

A former Conservative MP has gone on trial accused of not disclosing the true source of his political donations.

David Mackintosh, who represented Northampton South between 2015 and 2017, is charged under a section of election law which is being prosecuted for the first time. He is accused alongside Howard Grossman, who was the source of the donations according to the indictment.Both men appeared before the court as the jury was selected and sworn in.

Mr Mackintosh, of Station Road, Northampton, and Mr Grossman, 61, of Caldecote Gardens, Bushey, Hertfordshire, are both charged with two offences under the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000.
