The legislation will be passed on President Vladimir Putin to be signed into law.

Russia’s government has passed legislation critics fear will lead to a clampdown on freedom of speech. The first bill penalizes websites that “insult” authorities, state symbols and society. Offenders could be placed in jail for up to 15 days, Radio Free Europe reported. Russian President Vladimir Putin chairs a meeting with permanent members of the Security Council in Moscow on March 7, 2019.

I am sure the house lead by Nancy Pelosi are just waiting to pass something like this since they can't stand the truth about their policies, antisemitism, etc.

(1/3) Could something like that happen here? On Sept. 11, 2014, every voting Democrat (54) in the U.S. Senate voted to advance a proposed amendment to the U.S. Constitution (S.J. Res. 19) to empower federal and state lawmakers to ration or even criminalize . . .

(2/3) virtually any form of speech that might 'influence elections,' including power to criminalize speech on just one side of an issue. So, a majority of U.S. senators actually voted to gut the First Amendment and allow Putin-like anti-speech laws,

(3/3) but this was short of the 60 votes needed to overcome filibuster by 42 Republicans (or the 2/3 vote to pass). Here's the letter from the ACLU, opposing the constitutional amendment that every voting Senate Democrat voted for in 2014.
