A Perth man accused of murdering his baby daughter because she would not stop crying says he was exaggerating when he told detectives he"threw" her onto the floor, instead now claiming he"dropped" her.Arron Martin told the Supreme Court he did not want to seriously hurt his daughter IsabellaMr Martin worked nights and looked after Isabella during the day, the court was told

Giving evidence in his own defence on Tuesday, Mr Martin testified that on the day of her death his daughter was"fine", but when he put her to bed at about 4:30pm, she would not go to sleep."I don't know what came over me. I picked her up and shook her and dropped her on the floor," he testified. He agreed that he had deliberately lied to the police, but said that at the time he had"wanted the book to be thrown" at him.Mr Martin described himself as being numb after the incident, saying he picked her up off the floor and told her he was sorry before putting her back in her cot.
