DISSENTING views are not shut down in a democracy, human rights lawyer Eric Paulsen said today as the backlash against Pakatan Harapan leaders continues over their remarks against sexual minorities. Paulsen, the country representative to the Asean Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights , said democracy gives space and freedom of speech, assembly and other rights to all, not just those holding the “majority” view.
