The EU has warned Elon Musk in no uncertain terms that he needs to deal with alleged disinformation on X about the Hamas attack on Israel.
"First, you need to be very transparent and clear on what content is permitted under your terms and consistently and diligently enforce your own policies," he writes. The DSA also requires a swift response to notices of illegal content, with removal where warranted:"We have, from qualified sources, reports about potentially illegal content circulating on your service despite flags from relevant authorities," says Breton.
Breton calls on Musk to tighten up in all these areas, report back to his team, and work with Europol and other law enforcement bodies, complying promptly with their requests. The DSA requires an initial response to the letter within 24 hours.
