The nurse told the court Ms Liddicoat said at the time that she was "only doing 40 " and that "both the men had jumped out in front of her". She acknowledged this could have been related to a mental health condition and or medication for a mental health condition.Other witnesses gave accounts of Ms Liddicoat's driving leading up to the incident, stating that she was "swerving" or "veering" across lanes to the point other cars had moved off the road to avoid being hit.
"I was able to move up beside the car and I was trying to have a look in the window to make sure everyone was OK," the woman said.A truck driver working near the scene described hearing an "almighty bang" and then seeing "bodies spinning away".
