Melbourne's Fearless Girl statue has become the subject of a bitter copyright battle between a major law firm and a US investment company

The Fearless Girl statue, promoted as a symbol of female empowerment, has become the subject of a bitter copyright battle between a major law firm and a US investment company.

The personal injury law firm – whose slogan is "We Fight for Fair" – agreed to cease marketing the replica after the investment company baulked at Maurice Blackburn's goodwill defence for reproducing it.The original 130-centimetre bronze sculpture was created by US-based artist Kristen Visbal. It was commissioned by State Street Global Advisors, an investment firm with $4 trillion in assets under management.

The injunction, filed by State Street, was originally upheld by the court after it determined the replica breached trademark laws and misled the public into thinking Maurice Blackburn had an association with the original statue.

Knowing Melbourne it probably identifies as a Boy

Whoever thinks they own the copyright does not matter coz Melbourne's Fearless Girl belongs to Melbourne No ifs or buts
