They say recruitment should be based on merit and not on racial considerations, with some suggesting the introduction of an equal opportunity law.

A survey by the Centre for Governance and Political Studies has found that Malay and Indian job-seekers are likely to face discrimination in the private sector.

He said this could be because those in the top management preferred staff who spoke the same dialects as them. “There is one bank in Malaysia where, if you walk in, you will only see employees of one race. To me, this is the problem when we as a society don’t emphasise enough the usage of the national language,” Halim said.

“When you look at the structure of companies, not many are owned by Malays and Indians, and this is the reality which contributes to the situation,” it said. “It is likely that for a certain role, they found that in the past, certain people might have performed better. Whether people think this is right or wrong, I believe this is what is happening.”

Umno Youth vice-chief Shahril Hamdan said a comprehensive plan for civic education based on shared values that cut across racial and community concerns was needed to tackle the problem.

Going on for aeons la.. shocked it seems..

Everything should be based on merit, unfortunately that is not the reality of life in Malaysia .

Our non Malay academics are so poorly lacking that none of them are qualified to be VC at all the public universities in the country.

Employing incompetent people to run GLCs, the government is wasting alot of tax payers' money.

When GLCs & government can afford to hire as many as they want, no one ever complain biasness in hiring. But now government & GLCs performed poorly financially due to poor leaders resulting from racial biases policies, they look at private sector! To be fair, merit based for all!

Due to appointment and promotion in government agencies and GLCs by race, Malaysia losing talents and serious brain drain, and most GLCs are in deep shit. Every 2-3 years, taxpayers have to bail out GLCs! This needs to stop by putting leadership with merit in charge

All appointment especially leadership in government agencies and GLCs should be based on merits, not colours. Today, not even one CEO of a GLC or GLIC or government agencies is non malay! And most GLCs are poorly run, huge losses, and are in financial shit, & hit by corruption!

NO discriminations la. Look a d govt sector. If d same argument were 2b followed, d stringent requirement 4 BM can b also construed s discriminatory.

This survey is flawed. It should include the gomen sector to get a better picture.

I agree...lets start with the gomen sector and the rest should follow suit

Does the proposed equal opportunity law also covers university placement for students of all races based on merit instead of racial quota? This fiasco is what happen when you spoon fed low IQ students, while smarter ones fight for academic achievements on their own, successfully.

These groups and politicians are some of the most racist people. No? Haha 🤣 just asking ..

Bantah ICERD lagi 😂
