‘Imagine now we have a First Nation leader, who is a lawyer, who is a regional chief, a prosecutor to actually now lead that file? Wow,’ David Chartrand said

OTTAWA — Jody Wilson-Raybould would have brought a wealth of experience to the Indigenous services portfolio, including first-hand knowledge from the world of First Nations politics, some Indigenous leaders said Thursday as they questioned her decision to decline the cabinet post.

Wilson-Raybould could have found additional ways to address problems Indigenous people face, said Bear. Wilson-Raybould, who did not respond to media inquiries Thursday, has in the past made clear her disdain for the Indian Act, which she has said is a significant barrier to First Nations developing economies on reserve land and engaging with off-reserve industries and businesses.

On Wednesday, Trudeau’s former principal secretary Gerald Butts painted a detailed picture of the thinking around January’s cabinet shuffle.

It makes total sense. She would have been accused of being biased

I think they regret her DEMOTION a lot more for standing her ground and refusing to break the law....

why couldn't she stay in a post and make a difference.? why resign

Its amazong how Puglaas and daddy Puglaas screamed injustice for the Indigenous folks and how willingly she abandoned a profile and position where she could have made REAL difference for Canda's indigenous. Opportunist and Shameful JodyWilsonRaybould.

Are the Liberals buying Chiefs and dividing indigenous peoples? Divide and conquer Jody Wilson-Raybould. 19th century all over again. cdnpoli

Irrelevant to the political interference debate.

Court clears way for major B.C. mine-drilling project on First Nations landsThe Tsilhqot’in Nation had appealed a ruling that upheld the approval of an exploratory drilling program on their land near Williams Lake, but the B.C. Court of Appeal rejected that appeal. About time. That said I think First Nations people should negotiate for a % of all resource industry profits. Trudeau gives billions to people that despise us while natives don’t have potable water and wounded veterans ignored.
