The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has reclaimed the Tarauni federal constituency seat of Kano State at the Court of Appeal.

LEADERSHIP reports that the State’s National/State Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal had a few weeks ago annulled the electoral victory of the NNPP candidate, Mukhtar Umar Yarima, for allegedly presenting a forged academic certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission , and Tribunal instead pronounced the All Progressives Congress candidate, Hafizu Kawu, as the rightful winner of the federal legislative seat in the February 25 National Assembly elections.

In the Tribunal’s ruling, Justice I.P. Chima had declared Yerima ineligible to contest the February 25 election for presenting a forged copy of his Primary School Leaving Certificate to INEC.The Court of Appeal, on Saturday, set aside the ruling of the Tribunal, saying it failed to establish a case of forgery against the Appellant .
