Fox News pushed claims that the election was stolen, with voting machines from Smartmatic and Dominion playing a central role, despite knowing this was false. The company would not be drawn on who it might call up if the matter reached court.
Erin Murphy, an attorney representing both Fox Corporation and Fox News, argued that, in order for Fox Corporation to remain a defendant in the case, Smartmatic would have to prove that the Murdochs were specifically talking about Smartmatic when they communicated with top Fox officials about the direction of news coverage.Of course, the Murdochs don’t need to look outside their media empire to find enemies.
