Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo says abuse of social media has been rampant of late.

He said the matter was being discussed with relevant parties and the proposed legislation was expected to be tabled in Parliament by July. Asked if the proposed new legislation was linked to the National Cyber Security Policy, expected to be completed in July, Gobind said: “The policy is different as it encompasses the country’s next moves and direction in addressing new challenges in the era of digital economy.
