CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A Stratford, P.E.I., man charged with several counts of rental and construction fraud as well as impersonating a police officer has had his matters adjourned in provincial court in Charlottetown.

Kelly Roland Giroux, 56, appeared in court on Oct. 4 via video from the Provincial Correctional Centre. Giroux is charged with defrauding three people between March 27 and June 30 by taking payments for construction work that wasn't completed. Those fraud allegations involve receiving $14,262 from a person in Mount Stewart, $37,662 from a person in North Rustico and two counts of receiving $1,940.74 from a person in Newtown Cross.The rental fraud is alleged to have occurred three times between Aug. 5 and Sept. 3.

Also on Sept. 3, Giroux allegedly impersonated a police officer in Stratford in relation to one of the fraudulent room rentals."Innocent," said Giroux in court with respect to the break and enter charge.On Oct. 4, his lawyer withdrew from representing him. Giroux said he spoke to another about representing him – but that lawyer called him"delusional" and said he"should be ashamed of himself."Judge Nancy Orr adjourned Giroux's matters to Oct.
