'Not about money': Michelle Guthrie 'delighted' that ABC case is over after being given $730,000 to end her lawsuit against the broadcaster in addition to a $911,000 pay out

Sacked ABC managing director Michelle Guthrie has defended her $730,000 settlement from the public broadcaster saying she was "delighted" that the legal action was resolved but that it was never about the money.

On Friday, Ms Guthrie was given a $730,000 settlement by the ABC to end her lawsuit against the broadcaster. This was in addition to a $911,000 pay out when she was fired. When asked about this payment at the lunch, sources in attendance said she described herself as "delighted" that it had settled and said it was "never about the money" but because she believed what had happened to her was "wrong".

When queried whether she thought it would've been a different experience working under newly appointed chairman Ita Buttrose, she said she wouldn't get to "test" that but joked that LinkedIn continued to encourage her to apply for the managing director role at the ABC. She also said that she was routinely criticised for not having "media experience" when taking the role, despite having worked at major broadcaster BSkyB and News Corp's Foxtel. She also said that while she didn't have public broadcasting experience specifically, neither did the men who had the role before her.

Not about the money? How are b you going to survive without your high social life luv?

No, that's right, it's never about the money..........$$$

Can't really blame her for winning, puppet board failed to got through proper procedure inorder to terminate her tenure.

She will return it to the hard working tax payer then?

Greedy woman.

AN extraordinary termination payment all up..If it wasn’t about the money she would put it to a good cause and be transparent about it... perhaps to supporting mental health in journalists that have done the hard yards.

Then give it to charity...yeah, right.

“Not about money”. Do me a favour ..... no wonder your smiling!!

This moron laughing all the way to the bank at our expense. This government is not only incompetent it has turned feral.

It's never about the money til they get the payout. Must be the principle I suppose.
