Op-eds from outside contributors to The Dallas Morning News Opinion section.

Burned into my memory are the events of May 29 and June 1, 2020, in Dallas, in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death

Just think about it. We live in the age of Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Tamir Rice, Mike Brown, Botham Jean, Atatiana Jefferson, Sandra Bland, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and so many others. We live in a nation where the lynching and murders of Black men like Emmett Till, Medgar Evers and Martin Luther King Jr. still pierce our collective consciousness.

On June 1, 2020, my 16-year-old son, 19-year-old daughter and I found ourselves surrounded to the right and left by the Trinity River, with law enforcement in riot gear to our front and rear.
