The legal tussle over who is the bonafide governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, Cross River State, has continued to generate controversy as the three man Appeal Panel has withdrawn from the case over alleged N250 million bribery allegation.Senator John Owan-Enoh and Pastor Uguru Usani have been locked in a battle of supremacy since the conduct of party primaries in the state.
The three justices sitting in Calabar, Cross River State, yesterday, recused themselves from the case following petitions against them by the Godwin Etim John led-faction of the party.
The lead judge, Justice Professor S. A. Owoade, had announced to the court that upon arriving his chambers in the morning, he was served with two petitions written by Etim John. The two petitions were separately addressed to the President of the Court of Appeal as well as to National Judicial Commission, NJC, , alleging that he had lost confidence in the Justice Owoade-led panel on the basis of an alleged N250million graft.Council to Senator Owan-Enoh, Chief Awa Kalu, as well as counsel to APC, Mba Ukweni, argued that the petitions should be ignored as it was not dated and not properly routed.
