Jeff Clark is one of five Trump co-defendants who sought to move his case to federal court. | Susan Walsh/AP PhotoJeff Clark, the former Justice Department official charged alongside Donald Trump in a sweeping racketeering conspiracy in Georgia, failed to present evidence that the former president directed him to work on matters related to the 2020 election, a federal judge ruled Friday., rejected Clark’s bid to transfer the criminal case against him to federal court.
“No evidence in the Record definitively shows that the President directed Clark to write the letter,” he continued. “Instead, the evidence before this Court does not show the President’s involvement in this letter specifically until the January 3 meeting where the President decided not to send it to the Georgia officials.”
Clark argues that his efforts to provide advice to Trump — even if that advice was ultimately rejected — can’t be the basis of a criminal case.
