Juan Guaido returns to Venezuela after flouting a court-imposed travel ban by touring Latin American countries as part of his campaign to oust President Nicolas Maduro.

From Colombia, he travelled to several Latin American countries to shore up support for a transitional government that would precede free and fair elections.

"He can't just come and go. He will have to face justice, and justice prohibited him from leaving the country," Mr Maduro told ABC News last week. Mr Guaido said immigration authorities, who could have prevented his entry for violating the travel ban, addressed him as"president" — a swipe at Mr Maduro, who calls him a United States puppet.¡A difundir Venezuela!

The demonstrators, dressed in white and chanting"Freedom", said arresting Mr Guaido would spark new demonstrations. "If the regime has even a little bit of conscience, they should not arrest Guaido because people truly would not put up with it," said Franklin Lopez, a 60-year-old administrator.has warned Mr Maduro there would be consequences if Mr Guaido was arrested"His safety must be guaranteed. The world is watching," US national security adviser John Bolton said on Twitter.
